This lesson - A culmination to our Holocaust literature unit with a Critical Pedagogy Perspective - gets students exploring the web to start really connecting the lessons of the Holocaust to their present day lives and communities. It’s time for them to get to DO something to make their own community a better place for everyone to live. First they will use the web for research, next they will communicate with students from another school engaged in a “Not in our School” project over the Ning (and possibly Skype). Then they will develop their own “Declaration of the Rights of Youth” product in collaboration with students from this other school. Collectively they will build a blog site to showcase their work and continue refining and communicating about it. Who knows where it will all lead, as my intent will be to let students take charge of this project.
